trail to freedom

Christ offers incredible liberty that often conflicts with our traditions, thinking, behaviour, etc.
this can make the path to freedom more painful than the enslavement itself. i felt the urge to get off that path and remain mediocre, in bonds. but at the end of the day, i still found myself wanting more. so i move forward, however slowly or alone.

fallen off the wagon
on the trail to freedom,
trodden under feet with balls and chains.
wave ‘so long’ to liberty
let it cast away to sea
slap the cuffs on -
this is how we came.

we’ve gone this road before,
it’s simple: you and i want more,
it’s painful: opening our eyes
in this light.

fallen off the wagon
on the trail to freedom
trodden under feet with balls and chains
wave ‘so long’ to liberty
let it cast away to sea
slap the cuffs on -
drag us through the rain.

we’ve gone this road before,
it’s simple: you and i want more,
it’s painful: opening our eyes
in this light.
let’s go there one more time,
we need to show them how and why
they need to open up their eyes
in this light.

tired of reaching

i’m tired of reaching out
tired of standing tall
i cannot find my footing
and i fear that i may fall
it’s too much to endure
my spirit cannot hope
my body aches and weakens
like a withered, fraying rope
tired of reaching
done with seeing
Someone fill my cup!
stretch out Your hand
and grip me tightly
lift me,
lift me up
my eyes are dimming, squinting
my ears no longer hear
my mouth can form no words of peace
it only whispers fear
i’ll wait for You awhile
if You say that You will come
come and free me, give me hope,
and point my gaze toward home

everything is learning

listening to songs, over and over
to be dancing
to be distracted
to be learning
how to move the world with lyrics and melodies
going for a walk all around town
to be a sight-seer
to be active
to be learning
how to be strong when i’m alone
sorting photos on my living room floor
to be orderly
to be minimal
to be learning
how to let go and how to remember
visiting my sister and her sons
to be out of the house
to be with somebody else
to be learning
how to mother and how to love
cooking supper for my husband
to be well-fed
to be a wife
to be learning
how we can be a better me and a better him
everything is learning

crazy times.

yes, these are crazy times. everything is making me angry, happy, burdened, excited and sad all at once. why does it all have to happen all together, anyway?

the Church struggles. my faith shakes. my friend moves away. my loved ones play tricks, believe falsehoods, squash their potential. my people are growing, forgiving and freeing. they all are teaching me. they are experiencing, adventuring, and taking me with them!

why is my 6th little godchild in heaven instead of in her mommy's tummy? why is my sister crying?
my nephews puking? my husband overworking? my body stiff and hurting?

the rain outside makes me sigh.
a text message and a handmade card make me smile and laugh.

too much. it's too much.

"it's life", my brother says.

"it's abundant", my Saviour says.
"help me!", i say.
and He does.

thank you, landlord

thank you, landlord, you are good;
you have done what landlords should.
you have fixed my kitchen well -
replaced my floor, installed new shelves!
my bathtub likes its new surround,
(but my sink still makes that dripping sound).
lately, you helped my broken oven...
right out the door! oh man, i'm lovin'
these new things that come for free!
i've got the sweetest tenancy!
if i was not as smart as this,
i just might think i paid for it!

Proof-reader for Hire

i love misplaced apostrophe's
and "quotes" that neednt be.
they make life oh-so-interesting
and never frustrate me.
senseless punctuation,
and, random Capital Letters,
thrill me to the core, you know,
and wait- it does get better!
to many comma's, misspeelled words,
bad Grammar, need i continue?
i "want" so much to share my joy's;
i wish that i could win you!
join Me in this fight for Freedom,
for poetic lisensce, please...
why should we Stick to stuffy "rules"?
I "vote" misplaced apostrophe's!

did you know that Eagles Nest? wow. thats new's.
